OUR HISTORY

TThe Adityapur Municipal Corporation was established as a council in the Year 1963. Organizational set up – The Adityapur Municipal Corporation, Adityapur is under the Admistrative control of Urban Development Department, Government of Jharkhand. The Mayor is Elected by the Public is the Executive head of the Municipal Corporation and presides over the meetings of the Board. Thus, the executive power of the Municipal Corporation is exercised by the Board .To assist the Board, Various committees and ward committees are constituted. The Addl. Municipal Commissioner appointed by the state Government is a whole time officer of the Municipal Corporation and the executive power for the purpose of carrying on the administration of the Corporation, subject to the provisions of the act and any rules and bye-laws made there under and the general control of the Municipal Board, Vests in him. He also carries into effect every resolutions of the Board passed in conformity with the provision of law. Adityapur Municipal Corporation is governed by the Jharkhand Municipal Act, 2011. The 74th Constitutional Amendment Act (1992) has delegated the primary responsibility for urban management to urban local bodies / Governments. Unfortunately, the devolution of powers to ULBs has been very protracted. Like many other ULBs, there has been no real devolution of powers and functions to the Adityapur Municipal Corporation. The main functions of the Adityapur Municipal Corporation as defined under Section 70 Jharkhand Municipal Act, 2011 are:-
